Pound Puppies is an American/Canadian animated series that premiered on The Hub Network (as a Hub Original Series) on October 10, 2010, in the United States. Pound Puppies also aired on YTV in Canada and on Boomerang in the UK and Ireland, as well as Cartoon Network in Saudi Arabia. The series is produced by Hasbro Studios. It is the second series, after the 1986 series, to adapt Pound Puppies into a cartoon format. It is a kid-friendly cartoon, and is designed to appeal to children and their families. It has also featured very well-known voice actors, such as Betty White.
For the first 7 episodes, 9 Story Entertainment did the animation production, but DHX Media/Vancouver took over production starting with episode 8. It bears some resemblance in plot style and music to the '60s TV series Hogan's Heroes and to films like Stalag 17 and The Great Escape. It also, of course, seems inspired by the earlier Pound Puppies cartoon, such as the one episode, "Taboo," which was based off an episode from the 1986 version of the show.
Season 3 premiered on June 1, 2013.
Starting with the episode Pound Plushies, in Di'angelo Tales, Rigbybestie from there made a few sequel episodes, and numerous works of fan art (especially her ship of Milo and Strudel). The team consists of Di'angelo (Lucky), Sandie (Cookie), Milo (Strudel), Domino (Squirt), and Sparki (Niblet). All of the other cast members play as the minor dogs in the background (and Malti as the General).
